Research Themes

We study both how to increase donations and how to ensure that they improve society efficiently. We focus on the effects of tax incentives and subsidies, as well as information asymmetry between donors and charitable organizations.

Focusing on vaccination, we study how to encourage people to take preventive action. We examine the effects of policies and information provision, including whether they reach those who need vaccination, and how people come to recommend vaccination to others.

We study the behavior of donors who make stem cell transplantation possible: who registers and donates, and what kinds of outreach encourage donation, in collaboration with the Japan Marrow Donor Program.

We study how the spread of working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people work in Japan, focusing on which jobs and workers have adopted it and how it relates to productivity.
